My Mum’s Balcony Vegetable Garden: Part 1

My Mum on the balcony of her apartment in Brisbane

I think growing veggies in apartments or high-rises get a bad rap. It seems like it’s going to be too difficult. But my Mum’s garden on her apartment balcony in Brisbane is here to change that perception.

I’ve worked with my Mum to grow a balcony garden before (here in 2023) but we decided to make it bigger and better this time with 10 planter boxes spanning the entire balcony. It’s worked perfectly so far because she has great sunlight available for the plants.

It’s the half way moment of her veggie balcony garden right now, so we decided to take some photos at this point so we can compare the growth next month when everything should be fully grown. She’s got lettuce, rocket, coriander, tomatoes and chard growing in there and all of it looks happy and healthy so far!
