5 Summer Vegetables To Plant In Brisbane (+ 1 Sun Essential)

Looking for summer vegetables to plant in Brisbane that can deal with this heat? Basil and rocket are winners

It’s only the middle of October as I write this but Brisbane’s weather is already hitting over 30 degrees, so an important question I am asking right now is what summer vegetables can I actually plant in Brisbane that will survive?

Hot weather is kryptonite to so many vegetables that get dehydrated and die from Brisbane’s intense sunshine and humidity, but there are some great summer vegetables that can still stand the heat, so to speak.

I’ve included 5 delicious summer vegetables to plant in Brisbane below and I’ve also included my new summer essential - a sun hat! I used to potter in my garden and brave the sun with just sunscreen, but that does not cut it anymore and I want to protect my skin.

The hats I’ve included below are from a Salisbury Grange collaboration I did with my sister AKA Mary Morag this year. Check them out if sun protection is your thing!

The number one gardening essential for a Brisbane summer has to be a sun hat! My sister (above) who owns eco fashion label Mary Morag and I collaborated on these cute summer garden hats to save our skin in the hot sunshine! They are all named after flowers including The Ginger Hat, The Primrose Hat, The Cosmos Hat, and The Dahlia Hat (now sold out).
