7 Of The Best Spring Flowers For Sydney

Springtime = flower time in the garden

Spring is a great time to plant lots of flowers before the Sydney heat truly hits and, while there are lots of flower varieties to choose from, many of the best spring flowers I’d recommend for Sydney seem to be yellow or white!

From dainty yellow and white chamomile, to circular yellow billy buttons, here are 7 of the best spring flowers to get planting in Sydney.

And if you are wondering what flowers to plant in Sydney in the other seasons, you may like a copy of my Seasonal Flower Calendar below too!

#1 Sunflowers are always a spring garden favourite and this mammoth variety grew well over my head and brought in scores of bees!

#2 Cosmos look like airy, dainty daisies, but they absolutely thrive in warm spring weather. They also come in lots of beautiful colours. I love the white cosmos with a yellow centre.

#3 Celosia is one of the coolest flowers to grow in a Sydney spring in my opinion and this cool variety called cockscomb lasts a long time as a cut flower. Celosia is also easy to save seed from, meaning you can grow it season after season.

#4 Nasturtium flowers are bountiful, smell sweetly fragrant and the leaves are edible too - what’s not to love?

#5 Strawflowers are one of the best spring flowers for Sydney! This white beauty is very hardy in warm weather and lasts for many weeks as well.

#6 Billy Buttons are one of my all time favourite spring flowers. This yellow ball variety was such a fun flower to have in my backyard and I got a lot of comments on them!

#7 Chamomile is an under the radar gem when it comes to the best spring flowers to grow in Sydney. The little daisy-like flowers are so cute and have a beautiful scent too.
