If you are obsessed with flowers and want to buy dahlias in Australia, the good news is that there are a bunch of incredible local farms selling their fresh flowers direct to the public. One of the best reasons to buy from these guys, other than the incredible quality of their dahlias, is to support local and to support ethical flower practices.
It’s no secret that there are so many imported flowers coming into Australia and that puts a pall over the beauty of flowers for me. There’s no such issue when you buy dahlias in Australia from small but stunning local flower farms. Here are six of my absolute favourites below.
#1 Wild Violet Flower Farm, VIC

I wish I lived in Victoria just so I could experience the beauty of buying dahlias from Wild Violet Flower Farm! Based in Lilydale, they run a farm stand where you can order and collect flowers from September to May or you can also order stunning bunches delivered to your door for special occasions.
#2 New View Farmers, QLD

New View Farmers are a family-run farm on the QLD/NSW border near Stanthorpe where they use natural farming techniques. The sell at local markets and also bring their dahlias (and other beautiful blooms) to the weekly Northey Street City Farm Markets in Brisbane each Sunday.
#3 Southern Highlands Flower Farm, NSW

Southern Highlands Flower Farm, just south of Bundanoon in NSW, is run by flower farmer Jen who grows over 700 hundred different varieties of dahlias! Her dahlias are easy to get your hands on if you are in the area as they are stocked by the local IGA Moss Vale. And if you want to see the farm in action, you can stay at their pet-friendly Airbnb.

Looking to buy dahlias in Australia? Look no further than one of my personal favourites Moons Lane Flowers. Based in Brisbane at the Brookfield Garden Centre, the lovely Nat works her artistic magic with locally grown dahlias, some grown by her Mum Lois!
#5 Flower Farmstead, QLD

A very recent addition to the dahlia farming scene in Australia, Flower Farmstead creates gorgeous bunches of dahlias straight from their own organic flower farm based in Gympie/Gubbi Gubbi. Run by another Flower Farmer Jen (sensing a theme here), you can buy her dahlias at the Kin Kin markets or if you can’t make it there, watch all the floral beauty via the Flower Farmstead Instagram.
#6 Serenade Flower Farm, QLD
Flour and Bloom with Serenade Flower Farm Dahlias
You can find beautiful dahlias grown by Serenade Flower Farm, a speciality dahlia grower, at their Honesty Stall in Tamborine Mountain from November to April each year and at the Tamborine Green Shed on a Sunday. They are also known for supplying their stunning dahlias to Brisbane florist including Flour and Bloom if you can’t make the trip out.
