All About Salisbury Grange

My mini sunflower field in my Northey Street City Farm plot in Brisbane

Hi I’m Phoebe. I started Salisbury Grange in late 2019. (Who knew that the pandemic was a few months around the corner?)

As well as documenting my own gardening experiments, I created an organic seed collection with the staples I am always growing and I’m currently working on creating online courses about how to get lots of veggies, dahlias and bee flowers at home (the easy way).

I started off as a garden newbie around 10 years ago. The first seeds I planted were sunflowers at my Grandparents’ garden in the Brisbane suburb of Salisbury and I named my business after them and their vegetable garden which they had for over 50 years with the most INCREDIBLE soil. Their house was also my happy place and the name is so meaningful to me.

Over the last 10 years I have learned everything in the garden through trial and error and I wish so much I had asked to learn from my Grandparents’ when I had the chance (but I know they are watching over my gardening very closely!)

All my garden work is supervised by the best farm dog Banjo who loves to help with the watering by holding the hose in his teeth (above) and my Garden Staples Seed Pack!

Salisbury Grange | A Brief History

I love to experiment with growing new flowers and vegetables each season and I’ve included photos of all my major gardens that I’ve grown using the same process, but different set up:

  • Garden 1: My Toowoomba house (garden grown in the ground)

  • Garden 2 + 3: My inner city Brisbane cottage (large garden bed) and my Northey City Farm Plot (community garden plot)

  • Garden 4: My current Brisbane townhouse (raised garden beds + pots)

If you would like more information about what I do, keep an eye on my Work With Me page for when my courses get released later this year or check out my free Home Garden Starter Guide below!

Garden 1: The amazing sweet peas I grew in my Toowoomba garden

Garden 2: My veggie patch in my inner city Brisbane cottage (Garden 3 was my Northey Street sunflower plot above)

Garden 4: My current balcony veggie patch in Brisbane using raised garden beds for the first time

Garden 4: Even with limited space in my courtyard, I like to grow my own seedlings and plant in pots
